It’s that time of year again where the cold temperatures affect how your HVAC system operates. Don’t worry, when your unit first turns on and you feel cold air coming from the vents instead of that comfy cozy heat. Give your unit up to 20 minutes to start warming up (kind of like a car). On those extremely cold days your HVAC system can go into defrost. What is happening with your unit is that the coil needs time to heat up, so the initial air that is coming out of your vents is cold as your unit is defrosting the coil and moving the cold air from the duct work in the attic. If your unit does not start to warm up after 20 minutes, it is time to call your favorite HVAC company and have them access your unit.
